Montreal’s vintage cabarets; two eras in one address

A bit of background on the Kingdom Cabaret, 1417 St-Laurent Boulevard, Montréal, Québec, Canada.

Originally the site of the old Faisan Doré, where Aznavour launched his career with Pierre Roche and
composed three songs, including LA MAMMA … Where Denise Filiatrault’s stage presence came alive
along with several other of our artists, local and from France… It was THE Francophone cabaret of its
era, having morphed into the Frolic Cabaret in the 30s and into the popular Cabaret Mont-Martre
owned, at the time, by mob boss Vic (Pep) Cotroni. In what is now the longest standing club or cabaret
to ever occupy a building, the Kingdom Cabaret stands firmly entrenched since 2006.

Long live the Kingdom…

Cheers…
